Bret Brodowy, Pharm.D., is Director of the Medication Outcomes Center within the UCSF School of Pharmacy.

Bret Brodowy, Pharm.D., is Director of the Medication Outcomes Center within the UCSF School of Pharmacy. Dr. Brodowy also currently serves on the Department of Pharmaceutical Services management team at UCSF in a consulting capacity. He has more than 30 years’ pharmaceutical and information technology experience. From 1985 to 1994, Dr. Brodowy worked at the University of California, San Francisco where he rose to Associate Director of Pharmacy. From 1994 to 2000, Dr. Brodowy worked for Oncology Therapeutics Network (OTN), a subsidiary of Bristol-Myers Squibb. His most recent position at OTN was vice president of business development in which he collaborated with oncology physicians and nurses in the procurement and administration of pharmaceuticals in the ambulatory oncology setting. For the next ten years, Dr. Brodowy worked in the health care information technology sector which included positions at First DataBank as Vice President of Customer Support and Misys Healthcare Systems as the Product Line Director for Pharmacy Products. From 2005 to 2007, Dr. Brodowy worked for McKesson Specialty as Vice President of Automated Technologies. Dr. Brodowy returned to UCSF in 2008 as Assistant Director of Pharmacy with responsibility for oversight of the UCSF pharmacy information systems. Dr. Brodowy served as Director of Pharmaceutical Services at UCSF from 2011 to 2012.

 

 

 

Education and Experience

Dr. Brodowy earned a doctorate of pharmacy degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He is an associate clinical professor at UCSF, past-president of the UCSF School of Pharmacy Alumni Association and a Fellow of the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP). Dr. Brodowy currently is the course director for Clinical Pharmacy 161 – Introduction to Pharmacy Informatics at UCSF.
