Kethen W. So is one of the Assistant Directors of Pharmacy overseeing the pharmacy operations at the Parnassus Adult campus.

Kethen W. So is one of the Assistant Directors of Pharmacy overseeing the pharmacy operations at the Parnassus Adult campus. He earned a doctorate degree in pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco in 1995. He then went on to complete his pharmacy practice and pharmacy administration specialty residencies at the University of California at San Francisco during the years of 1995-1997.

Immediately following his postgraduate training, he joined the UCSF Medical Center as a clinical pharmacist on the Adult Hematology/Oncology Service. He worked closely with several other pharmacists in developing and implementing pharmacist practice guidelines, focusing on symptom management in patients receiving high chemotherapy for transplantation and hematological malignancies. In 2000, he left UCSF and became the Pharmacy Manager at the Children's Hospital Oakland where he started and continued to coordinate many operational programs to improve the inpatient pharmacy service. He also served as the pediatric bone marrow transplant pharmacy consultant. In 2001, he was recruited back to the UCSF Medical Center to serve as a senior pharmacist supervisor. He was responsible for the technician workload assignment and various pharmacy automation projects to provide optimal medication delivery systems. In 2005, he was promoted to the position as an Assistant Director of Pharmacy overseeing pharmacy services including sterile compounding and outpatient oncology infusion services. In 2010, he was selected to join the Electronic Health Record team to lead the development of the pharmacy program and medication usage at the UCSF Medical Center. After the successful implementation, he turned to the Department of Pharmaceutical Services to resume his current role and has continued to provide his insights and support to improve the usability of the pharmacy program.

Kethen is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pharmacy in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco and has lectured in various courses within the School of Pharmacy on oncology and hematology related topics and served as a discussion facilitator of the Pharmacy Management Class. He is also an active member in several pharmacy professional organizations. He is the current President-elect of the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
