Dr. Jew is Director of Pharmacy at UCSF Medical Center, Mission Bay campus where she directs the production facility famed for its robotic technologies.

Dr. Jew is Director of Pharmacy at UCSF Medical Center, Mission Bay campus where she directs the production facility famed for its robotic technologies. She provides leadership for all sterile and non-sterile compounding as well automation optimization and is spearheading lean initiatives throughout the Department. She also oversees all clinical and operational activities of Pediatric Pharmacy Services at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Prior to this position, Dr. Jew spent 22 years serving in various leadership positions at two Children’s Hospitals. She was Executive Director of Pharmacy & Clinical Nutrition Services at Children’s Hospital of Orange County for 8 years, where she directed all operational and clinical activities of the 24-hour inpatient pharmacy services, outpatient pharmacy services, investigational drug services, and Clinical Nutrition and Lactation services. She was also Residency Program Director for the PGY1 and PGY2 Pharmacy Residency Programs. She provided leadership in institutional drug use and clinical nutrition and lactation policy, medication safety initiatives, pharmacy-related technology and automation, implementation of CPOE, quality improvement initiatives and oversaw educational activities to pharmacy, nursing, medical and other health care professional staff. Dr. Jew was also Clinical Manager, Director of Pediatric Specialty Residency program and Clinical Specialist in Neonatology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for 14 years. She held adjunct faculty appointments at various Schools of Pharmacy and School of Nursing.

 

 

 

Education and Experience

Dr. Jew received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of California at San Francisco and completed an ASHP-Accredited Residency in Clinical Pharmacy at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She is an established neonatal and pediatric practitioner, widely published and presented extensively at local, state and national meetings for pharmacists, nurses and physicians. Her areas of expertise include neonatal drug therapy, drug use during ECMO, immunizations, medication safety, and technology and automation. She is actively involved in local, state and national pharmacy societies, and was Past Chair and Director-at-large of the Executive Committee of the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists of American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), Director-at-Large of Pennsylvania Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (PSHP) Board and Past President of Delaware Valley Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (DVSHP). She served on the Editorial Board of American Journal of Health-Systems Pharmacists (AJHP) and is reviewer for numerous pharmacy journals. Dr. Jew received the Jonathan Roberts award from DVSHP in 2004, the Fellow of ASHP in 2007, the Distinguished Service Award from ASHP Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists in 2010 and Friend of Nursing award from the Association of California Nurse Leaders in 2012.
