Dr. Adams is Director of Pharmaceutical Services at UCSF Medical Center, Parnassus and Mt. Zion campuses, where she directs both inpatient operations and outpatient infusion center operations.

Dr. Adams is Director of Pharmaceutical Services at UCSF Medical Center, Parnassus and Mt. Zion campuses, where she directs both inpatient operations and outpatient infusion center operations. She provides leadership and oversees all clinical and operational activities of Adult Pharmacy Services at UCSF Medical Center. Prior to this position, Dr. Adams spent 26 years serving in various leadership positions at two other University of California medical centers, and two Children’s Hospitals. Mostly recently, she was Director of Pharmacy Services at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla for 4.5 years, where she directed all operational and clinical activities of the 24-hour inpatient pharmacy services, and served as the Scripps system lead under the direction of the Corporate Executive Director. She was also created and served as the Residency Program Director for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program. She provided leadership in institutional drug use, medication safety initiatives, expansion of clinical services, quality improvement initiatives and oversaw educational activities to pharmacy, nursing, medical and other health care professional staff. Dr. Adams was also the Director of Pharmacy and PGY1 Residency Program Director, and Performance Improvement Coordinator at UCSD Medical Center for 9 years. She has held adjunct faculty appointments at various Schools of Pharmacy, including UCSD and UCSF Schools of Pharmacy.

 

 

Education and Experience

Dr. Adams received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Washington, Seattle, and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of California at San Francisco [UCSF]. She completed an ASHP-Accredited Residency in Clinical Pharmacy at UCSF as well. Prior to her leadership roles, she is an established pediatric practitioner, widely published and presented extensively at local, state and national meetings for pharmacists, nurses and physicians. Her areas of expertise continue to include immunizations, clinical practice models, medication safety and regulatory compliance. She is actively involved in local, state and national pharmacy societies, including Board of Directors for the CSHP and Commission on Affiliate Relations for ASHP. Lastly, Dr. Adams is a public advocate for the promotion of childhood immunizations.
